Exciting News...

...and a vote.

It’s nearly two years since I self-published IRIM. Almost immediately I had the plot for the second story in my head, but I couldn’t decide on the ending. There were two possibilities – either to tie it all up and finish the series, or to carry on with a third book. Inspiration hit me a couple of months ago and now, not only have I completed Book Two, but I’ve also planned Book Three!

Me completing the book last week on

It’s Raining in Moscow and I Forgot my Umbrella has done fairly well for a self-published book, and I’ve received some fabulous reviews on Amazon (thanks so much to everyone who has written one).

I love the original cover by Graham Smith, but to take my work to the next level I need to be very professional and think like a businessperson. That’s why I started looking for a designer who specializes in book covers.

You’d think it would be easy but, having trawled through a hundred middle-grade books and noted down a few names, nothing really caught my eye.

Then, one day I happened to be reading an article about self-publishing and I came across a design that I loved. Patrick Knowles is a well-respected hugely talented and perceptive artist, and he was the one I wanted!

To cut a long story short, he’s going to re-design my cover and the one for the new book.

Now I need to decide whether to change my original title, because although It’s Raining in Moscow and I Forgot my Umbrella is intriguing for adults, it might need to be more obvious for children.

I’d be so grateful if you could complete either the survey below or the one linked to the email - both if you feel strongly 😊

Which title would you choose?

  • It's Raining in Moscow and I Forgot my Umbrella

  • Billy Ember and the Mole of Moscow

  • Billy Ember and the Russian Spy

  • Billy Ember and the Chain of Fire

THANK YOU!
